From
the beginning of time when words were
first spoken, the ability to communicate
has played a significant role in the
history of mankind. Communication is
more than just letters strung together
to form words. Whether in spoken or
written form, words have the power to
change the world we live in.
Words can inspire love, laughter,
heroism, friendship, virtually every
emotion we feel as humans.
Unfortunately, they can also evoke
anger, hatred, and fear. Yet, our
language is at its best when it is used
to inspire others to find the best in
themselves. It is with that in mind that
we offer this page to share with you
words of inspiration. We will continue
to add to the page over time and welcome
suggestions from our visitors. Let's
begin with one of my favorite phrases.
Imagine the possibilities . . .
To Have
Succeeded
To laugh
often and love much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
And the affection of children;
To earn the approbation of honest
critics;
And endure the betrayal of false
friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To give one's self;
To leave the world a little better,
Whether by a healthy child,
A garden patch,
Or a redeemed social condition;
To have played and laughed with
enthusiasm
And sung with exultation;
To know even one life has breathed
easier
Because you have lived . . .
This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Character
is doing what's right when nobody's
looking.
J.C. Watts, Jr. - U.S. Congress member
Some
people see things as they are and say
why. I dream things that never were and
say why not?"
Robert F. Kennedy
Let the
word go forth from this time and place
that the torch has been passed to a new
generation.
John F. Kennedy
If a
man is called to be a streetsweeper, he
should sweep streets even as
Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven
composed music, or Shakespeare composed
poetry. He should sweep streets so well
that all the hosts of heaven and earth
will pause to say, "Here lived a great
streetsweeper who did his job well."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr
